Consider lice treatment if pour-on drench was not used pre-dryoff

Enrol for herd testing for the new season

Monitor crops for nitrate levels

Week Two

Discuss Rotavec-Corona vaccination use with vet, in pre-calve cows.

Get calving pens ready, disinfect & refill with fresh shavings.

Monitor cows for mastitis post drying off.

Week Three

Preferentially feed cows identified for induction.

Week Four

Rotavec-Corona vaccinate cows 4 weeks pre-calving.

Start supplementing magnesium 3-4 weeks precalving.

Monitor for abortions.

Monitor cows for signs of nitrate toxicity.

Watch Nutrition – a cow in the late stage of pregnancy’s ME requirements are equivalent to 20% of their body weight (500kg cow requires 100 MJME/day). Remember to allow for crop wastage.
