Omarama
The new, purpose built (and air-conditioned!) veterinary clinic in Omarama was opened in October 2007. It has been set up in response to the obvious growth in Omarama, Twizel, and the McKenzie district, and in anticipation of continued future growth. It is a very special part of the world, with many very special people. A vet is operated out of the clinic every day, providing a full range of animal health and surgical services. The clinic boasts a ”gold standard” isoflurane anaesthetic machine to provide for patient safety. Despite this, major surgical cases such as complicated orthopaedic reconstructions, are still referred to the base hospital in Oamaru, with its superior surgical facilities, additional experienced staff, and patient monitoring devices.
