We've asked Mat a couple of questions....

Work Interests: Love all things associated with cows, but have a real passion for reproductive improvement in all large animal species.
Nutritional management and monitoring is becoming a large part of what I do which provides the reward of regular client contact.

Random Fact: Born a Crusader, schooled a Crusader but always root for the underdog!

How many cows do you think you have pregnancy tested in your career? Over 700,000

What kit do you like to use? If I’m in a shed it has to be an Aloka SSD 500. It takes a bit more setting up, but gives great picture and is easier on the body! If I’m outside, hands down it has to be an Easyscan 3 – really portable and light weight.

Describe an interesting incident in your preg testing career: Scanning a farmer’s wife – and before you ask - no it was not done the same way as a cow!!

Who will win between the Lions/All Blacks in 2017? The British teams are currently very strong, on paper the best pick of them would definitely challenge the All Blacks. It will all depend on whether Warren Gatland can make them into a cohesive unit. I’m picking the result will be determined in the last game of the series.

Outside Interests: Love the outdoors (almost as much as my son!). Fishing, hunting, boating and camping (all with the family of course!)
